Microsatellite Analysis — DNA Diagnostics Center (DDC) performs over 1 million STR genotyping tests annually using capillary electrophoresis platforms: ABI 3730 and 3130.

Case Study
DDC recently acted as the backup facility when a laboratory in Tennessee experienced protracted maintenance issues with its sole 3730. Testing turn-around times became seriously compromised for their business, and DDC stepped in for two months until the maintenance issues were solved. With six 3730’s in the DDC laboratory, we had the capacity and expertise to assist the Tennessee laboratory with quality testing services.

SNP Analysis — DDC designs tests for single or multiplexed genotype assays utilizing Real Time, Fluidigm, and Affymetrix Gene Titan platforms. The laboratory is CAP accredited to genotype with the Precision Medicine Research Array (PMRA).

Case Study
A major U.S. research center elected to use the Precision Medicine Research Array from Affymetrix given its affordability and breadth of markers. The lead researcher was looking for a reliable outsourced laboratory partner with validated PMRA experience and the Gene Titan instrument. DDC was chosen over the researcher’s in-house lab to do both the DNA sample extraction and SNP analysis using PMRA given our affordable pricing, fast turn-around times and reliable results.

Next-Gen Sequencing (NGS) — DDC provides testing in rapid and high throughput modes using the Illumina HiSeq platforms. The laboratory has multiple machines to accommodate high volumes and redundant backup.

Precision Ethnicity™ Analysis — DDC uses a sophisticated, academically rigorous algorithm that characterizes ethnicity into 41 gene pools and leverages over 1,000 reference populations. Using client SNP or NGS data from submitted files, DDC provides precision ethnicity to support patient recruitment and clinical trials. Researchers either use DDC’s custom Precision Ethnicity™ array with Ancestry Informative Markers (AIM) or a commercial array such as the Precision Medicine Research Array (PMRA) as the data source. Adding this tool to the research protocol helps validate patient self-reported information and is shown to reduce genomic interference in clinical trial cohorts.

Case Study
A world-renowned medical group interested in following cancer patients’ prognosis found that African ancestry resulted in a worse outcome. Using DDC’s Precision Ethnicity™ algorithm, they were able to subdivide their patients into difference geographic populations within Africa and evaluate the correlation with treatment response.
