If you are a mother doubting the fatherhood of your child, emphasize that the child has a right to their genetic information for heritage and health reasons. Or, if you think you’re the biological father, present your arguments about how your presence would benefit the child emotionally and financially.

A legal paternity test, arranged directly through a DNA lab without court involvement, produces court-admissible results. A legal paternity test could be a more palatable option for someone wary of going to court.

Regardless of the other party’s behavior, aspire to stay patient and level-headed. Aggressive arguments are unlikely to yield positive results and could undermine your arguments. Always remember to prioritize the child’s well-being by maintaining a peaceful demeanor.

Treat a Court-Ordered Paternity Test as a Last Resort

Facing rejection for a paternity test can be a setback, but it’s not a dead-end. As we laid out above, resolving this matter amicably without resorting to legal measures is the best route. However, legal options are available if your best efforts to convince the other party fails.
