DNA Diagnostics Center (DDC), the world’s leading private DNA testing laboratory, headquartered in Fairfield, Ohio, today announced that Alpaca Registry, Inc. (ARI) has signed an exclusive partnership with DDC for pedigree and parentage DNA profiling services for registered alpacas.
ARI is the largest alpaca pedigree registry in the world, headquartered in Lincoln, Nebraska. The only organization of its kind in the United States, ARI also registers alpacas in Canada and countries throughout the world. ARI has used DNA testing as part of its registry services since 1998.
“DNA Diagnostics Center, because of its size, will give ARI the ability to further expand accuracy and quality, while optimizing turnaround time and efficiency,” said Darby Vannier, executive director of ARI. “Their business philosophy matches well with that of ARI, and was founded on the belief that technological advancements in DNA testing should translate into services that are accessible and affordable.”
Following a recent review of seven DNA testing laboratories, the ARI Board of Directors and staff selected DDC for a multi-year relationship as its exclusive provider of DNA testing services. Reviews included several site visits to ensure compliance with key ARI standards.
“This is a great win for the DDC Veterinary program,” said Brad Wilsted, chief executive officer of DDC. “ARI is a top-tier registry that is committed to staying on the forefront of DNA testing to maintain the health and purity of this valuable animal breed. We’re very proud they chose DDC and anticipate a relationship that will grow in scope as we support ARI with high quality testing and research into alpaca genetics.
“The veterinary business and serving breeder associations throughout the world are key elements of our business strategy,” Wilsted added.
In the announcement to its over 10,000 members, ARI noted DDC’s strengths in high-volume sample processing. DDC is the world leader in private DNA testing, reviewing over 100,000 DNA tests annually. In addition to human identity, forensics, ancestry, and genetic trait testing, DDC also provides a wide variety of animal testing services.
In the veterinary arena, DDC provides innovative, quality DNA testing for livestock, companion, and sport animals. DDC’s reputation is growing within the animal registry community as a tremendous partner to deliver top-quality, progressive DNA testing services with outstanding customer-focused services. DDC has a growing menu of testing services for the canine, feline, equine, and other animal groups.
