How to Learn the Sex of Your Baby Early in Pregnancy

Dec 14, 2022 | Peekaboo

Will it be a boy or a girl? This is an exciting question expectant parents ask themselves in the first weeks of pregnancy. The baby’s health is the most important thing (of course), but it sure is fun to find out what you’re having in your first couple months of pregnancy, if possible. For some anxious parents, the earlier the better!

What month do you find out the gender of your baby?

Usually around 20-weeks pregnant (5 months) you’ll have an appointment with your doctor to determine the health of your baby, and to check for any abnormalities. Normally, your doctor is also able to tell you the sex of your baby at this time. There are other ways to find out the sex of your baby before this ultrasound though, including a non-invasive prenatal test (NIPT), Chorionic Villus Sampling (CSV), or an early at-home gender test.

A NIPT can be completed before your ultrasound and is used to check for abnormalities in the baby before it’s born. This test type is completed by a blood sample and is usually collected at your doctor’s office. The doctor is usually able to tell you the sex of the baby through this test, as well.

CSV is an invasive test that also checks for abnormalities in the pregnancy, but usually requires a sample of the placenta, which would need to be taken by your doctor. This test can may also confirm the sex of the baby.

Ultimately, you and your doctor should decide what’s best for your pregnancy, but if you’re only wanting to find out the gender on your own (from the comfort of home), then an at-home gender DNA test like the Peekaboo Early Detection Gender Test might be a good choice. It can help you determine what you’re having after only 7 weeks of pregnancy, and it’s over 99% accurate.

How does this test tell the gender of a baby?

Peekaboo’s Early Gender Test helps determine the baby’s gender with a small pin-prick blood sample from the mother. This makes it perfectly safe for both the mother and the pregnancy. After collection, the blood sample is shipped to the lab where scientists determine if a Y chromosome is present in the mother’s blood. If it is, she’s having a boy! If it isn’t, she’s having a girl! The best part? This fast and accurate test has a 100% money-back guarantee if the gender of the newborn doesn’t match the result.
