Rating on Unannounced AABB Laboratory Inspection – DDC

Fairfield, Ohio, July 23, 2008 —DNA Diagnostics Center (DDC) is pleased to announce that it has achieved a perfect rating after an unannounced inspection by AABB, the organization that sets industry standards for family relationship testing in the United States.
Last week, the lead assessor from the AABB, Dr. George Riley, carefully examined DDC’s performance in the many crucial areas of laboratory compliance, including lab safety, quality of testing, results, client care and confidentiality. DDC received a “zero-deficiency,” or perfect, rating in each category.

DNA Diagnostics Center is the world’s largest private DNA testing laboratory, located just outside of Cincinnati, Ohio.
“It is an immense accomplishment for DDC to once again complete an AABB assessment for relationship testing with no deficiencies,” said DDC’s Laboratory Director Dr. Michael Baird.  “This is an accomplishment in which the whole company can take pride.  The quality system at DDC ensures that all samples are handled properly, that our results are reliable, and that our clients can have the peace of mind knowing that their testing was performed by laboratory that maintains the highest quality standards in the industry.”
DDC has been accredited by the AABB since 1996 and is also accredited by ACLASS Accreditation Services (ISO/IEC 17025), ASCLD/LAB- International, the New York State Department of Health, the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA), and the College of American Pathologists.
In general, U.S courts and other government agencies will only consider a DNA test result to be legally defensible if the DNA test in question is performed by an AABB-accredited laboratory.
